Welcome to Artistree Cavaliers! Art and I have had Cavalier King Charles Spaniels since 2000, with the purchase of our first girl, Nordictouch Wild Rose.
Once in a room with a Cavalier, I found it impossible not to want one! I believe this is the breed I had been waiting for all my life. My primary focus is handling my Cavaliers in the showring. There is really nothing I love better then showing off a beautiful Cavalier!
Montana is a wonderful place to nurture dogs and the hillside where I live provides good conditioning room for my dogs. Here they know chipmunks, birds, deer, cats and the occasional fox. At a very early age, puppies are encouraged to explore and be confident about their natural surroundings, other animals, humans and birds.
I care very much about the welfare and future of this lovely and loving breed, which as with any living thing, has it's own share of health issues. All Cavaliers in my breeding program have annual heart and eye checks with certified Veterinary Specialists, as required by the CKCSC, USA. Hips and patellars are also done at 2 years. I am learning all I can about Syringomyalia and attended a seminar at this years ACKCS National and will practice the recommended protocal for breeding away from this disease.
PUPPIES Occasionally, I breed for a new show prospect and place the rest of the litter as pets with a limited registration. This means that these puppies can never be bred, will be spayed or neutered, and may not be shown. They can, however, be introduced to agility or obedience or be used as therapy dogs as adults. Our puppies are raised in a family setting, socialized with other Cavaliers as well as dogs of other breeds, and children and friends throughout their development.
We are e
specially interested in placing pups in homes with fenced yards where somone is at home during the day. Cavaliers have been bred to be Royal Lapdogs and they take this job very seriously! They depend on their families and love to be in close proximity. They make wonderful shop dogs, therapy dogs and office pals. They are ready to do whatever their owner does: walk, ride in the car, watch tv! They are also good candidates for rally, agility and obedience. They are, IMHO, the perfect pet for many types of people. My puppies are registered with both the American Kennel Club and the original club, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA. I also maintain a membership with the Cavalier Kings Charles Spaniel Club in the UK and have visited there both in 2009 and 2010. I feel that I can learn so much from seeing my dogs ancestry as it exists in England today.
